Iran announced the receipt of Russian fighters and attack helicopters

Iran is preparing to receive modern Russian-made military aircraft and helicopters, including Su-35 fighter jets, Mi-28 attack helicopters and Yak-130 trainer aircraft. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Iran, Brigadier General Mahdi Farahi.

According to him, the delivery of these three advanced military air assets to the Iranian armed forces has already been planned and related processes are currently underway. General Farahi noted that Iran has the most powerful fleet of military helicopters in the region in terms of numbers and has improved their capabilities after carrying out a number of projects. Iran has not acquired new fighter jets in recent years, with the exception of a few Russian MiG-29 fighters purchased in the 1990s.

This agreement between Iran and Russia is part of major deals signed by the two countries to strengthen economic, trade, energy and military cooperation. In September, the Iranian Air Force already received the first Russian Yak-130 training aircraft.
