Iran denies arms supply to Yemeni Houthis

In response to claims of confiscation of Iranian weapons shipments bound for Yemen, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman categorically denied the allegations, stressing that the Islamic Republic has no military presence in Yemen and arms shipments to the country are not linked to Tehran.

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported the transfer to Ukraine of more than 5 small arms and ammunition, allegedly seized from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and destined for Yemen's Houthi rebels. According to a statement from CENTCOM, the weapons were confiscated between May 2021 and February 2023 from four vessels not owned by any state and transferred to Ukraine in April 2024.

Representatives of the Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement also denied these claims, saying that they do not receive military aid from Iran and do not need such supplies. Deputy head of the Ansar Allah information department Nasr al-Din Amer emphasized that the movement independently produces the necessary weapons and does not depend on external supplies.

Experts note that the announcements about the transfer of confiscated weapons to Ukraine may be an attempt by the United States to free warehouses of seized weapons, while at the same time increasing support for Kyiv amid the ongoing conflict. However, such actions raise questions about their legality and possible consequences for regional security.

Tehran has repeatedly denied any involvement in arms supplies to Yemen, emphasizing that such accusations are unfounded and aimed at discrediting Iran in the international arena.
