Iran continues to strengthen its military cooperation with Russia, supplying key weapons for use in Syria. According to Iranian journalist Khayal Muazzin, Tehran has given Moscow hundreds of Qaem-5 glide bombs. The munitions will reportedly be mounted on Russian fighter jets to carry out airstrikes on positions in the Aleppo region.
The Qaem-5 is a precision-guided munition that can hit targets at a considerable distance. It is equipped with a laser guidance system, which allows it to be used effectively against fortifications, equipment concentrations and other key objects. The transfer of this type of weaponry demonstrates the intention of the parties to strengthen their cooperation within the framework of the Syrian campaign.
According to experts, the use of these bombs on Russian aircraft could significantly increase the effectiveness of strikes on positions opposed to the Bashar al-Assad regime. Aleppo remains one of the most important centers of confrontation between government forces supported by Russia and Iran and the armed opposition. Strikes using precision-guided munitions such as the Qaem-5 could play a key role in changing the situation on the battlefield.
