Iran plans to strike US bases in coming hours

Iran is preparing to launch massive strikes on US military facilities in the Middle East in the coming hours using ballistic missiles and hundreds of medium-range drones, Iranian media reported, citing senior officials in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The reason for such actions is the recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, including the underground complex in Fordow, which Tehran has assessed as direct aggression. The threat of attacks reflects a sharp escalation of tensions in the region, where the conflict between Iran, Israel and the US has reached a critical point.

Iran plans to use its vast arsenal of missiles, including the Fateh-110 and Zulfiqar, which can strike targets up to 700 kilometers away, and kamikaze drones like the Shahed-136, which have proven effective in regional conflicts, according to Middle Eastern sources. Potential targets include U.S. bases in Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, which house thousands of U.S. troops and strategic assets. Tehran says the attacks will be “precise,” but analysts fear they could provoke a major response from Washington.

The conflict escalated after the US joined Israeli operations against Iran in June 2025, striking nuclear facilities that the West believes are linked to nuclear weapons development. Iran vehemently denies the allegations, stressing the peaceful nature of its program. The US and Israeli attacks have caused significant damage, including infrastructure damage and military and civilian casualties, increasing Tehran’s resolve to respond with force. In recent days, Iran has carried out a series of exercises rehearsing scenarios for massive missile and drone attacks, signaling its seriousness.

The American authorities, in turn, declared their readiness to protect their interests in the region. The Pentagon confirmed the strengthening of security measures at Middle East bases, including the deployment of additional Patriot and THAAD air defense systems. Washington also sent an aircraft carrier strike group to the Persian Gulf to demonstrate its resolve in the event of Iranian attacks. According to Western media, the US is considering the possibility of preemptive strikes if intelligence confirms Iran is preparing for a large-scale operation.
