Iran has sent threats to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states through secret diplomatic channels warning of possible military action if their territory or airspace is used to attack Iran. Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have received such warnings, Reuters reported.
Tehran has said it is prepared to strike oil-rich regional states and other US allies in the Middle East if their support is used to carry out Israeli operations against Iran, amid growing tensions over possible Israeli military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and strategic infrastructure.
According to Arab sources, the Iranian threat has been taken seriously, and some regional states have stepped up security measures, fearing a possible escalation. Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, despite their close ties to the United States and cautious cooperation with Israel, are keen to avoid direct involvement in hostilities, putting them in a difficult position between their allies and potential threats from Iran.
Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which have long been marked by hostility and competition for influence in the region, have once again become strained. Saudi Arabia, a key oil producer, maintains close economic and military ties with the United States, making it a prime target for Iranian threats in the event of a full-scale conflict.
