Iran threatens to bomb US bases and ships

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Command has officially stated that any attack on Iranian oil tankers or commercial vessels will be followed by a "massive strike" on one of the US military bases in the region, as well as on "enemy ships."

The warning was issued on May 10, 2026, amid ongoing mutual blockades and military clashes in the Strait of Hormuz since February 28.

The statement emphasizes that Tehran will not tolerate threats to its maritime interests, vital oil exports, and trade routes. Escalation will follow any aggression, whether in the Persian Gulf or beyond. In the event of an attack on an Iranian vessel, the retaliatory strike will be "heavy and decisive."

IRGC Aerospace Commander Saeed Majid Mousavi stated that Iran's missiles and drones are already "targeted at the enemy" in the region and ready to launch. Meanwhile, Iranian forces continue to maintain control of the strait, using a "mosquito fleet" tactic—hundreds of speedboats concealed in caves and harbors along the coast.
