Tests of the new Russian hypersonic missile Gremlin will take place in 2022

The first tests of the Russian Gremlin hypersonic missile will take place next year.

Thanks to the active development of hypersonic technologies, it became known that the Russian military intend to test a new hypersonic missile "Gremlin", passing under the name "Product 70", as early as next year. Initially, this was supposed to be done in 2023, however, due to the advance of the pace of development, the dates can be shifted at least to the end of 2022.

The newest Russian hypersonic missile "Gremlin" will equip fifth generation fighters with fundamentally new weapons. Against the background of the beginning of massive deliveries of these combat aircraft to the armament of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the early development of a new missile became a priority task.

At the same time, at the moment it is known about the holding of bench tests of the newest Russian aviation hypersonic missile. This indicates that the actual testing of the new weapons has already begun, while the missile will only have to reach the level of state tests.

In the future, it is planned to equip long-range Tu-22M3 bombers, fifth-generation Su-57 fighters and, probably, Su-35 and Su-30 fighters with Gremlin hypersonic missiles.
