Military correspondent Vladimir Romanov, citing sources, confirmed the destruction of a Saab 340 AEW&C airborne early warning aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force. According to him, the Swedish-designed AWACS aircraft was shot down by a Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet.

As a reminder, information about this incident has previously appeared in Western and Greek media. It was reported that the attack was presumably carried out using a long-range R-37M (RVV-BD) air-to-air missile, capable of striking targets at ranges of up to 400 km. The AWACS aircraft, designed to detect airborne targets and guide aircraft, is a priority target for fighter jets due to its ability to monitor airspace and coordinate the actions of strike aircraft and air defense systems.
