An American military aircraft attempted to invade Syrian airspace.

A pair of Russian Su-30SM fighters intercepted a Boeing P-8A Poseidon American military anti-submarine patrol aircraft, which approached the borders of Syrian airspace and intended to violate them.

According to the data presented, the American military aircraft flew with unknown intentions, periodically changing its altitude. After approaching the borders of Syrian airspace, two Su-30SM fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces were raised from the Khmeimim airbase, which forced the American military aircraft to change its flight route.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed this information. No other details were provided on this score, except that the fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces operated in strict accordance with international standards.

"The flight of Russian aircraft was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace", - said in the message of the Russian defense department.

According to experts, the American plane was either trying to find Russian submarines still in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Syria, or was purposefully preparing for a provocation.
