ISW: The Russian army launched a powerful offensive

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in a new analytical review, assesses the actions of Russian troops in Ukraine as offensive, carried out in difficult weather conditions. According to the report, the Russian Armed Forces are actively operating along most of the front, their actions are especially noticeable in the regions of Kharkov and LPR, near Artemovsk and Avdeevka, as well as in the west of the Zaporozhye region.

Ukrainian armed forces, in response, launch counterattacks in the west of the Zaporozhye region and maintain positions on the eastern bank of the Kherson region. ISW analysts emphasize that the Russian offensive is taking place in conditions that are generally considered unfavorable for mechanized operations.

The review also mentions that the Ukrainian side is using this moment to strengthen its defensive positions, especially in those areas where counter-offensives were previously carried out. At the same time, the Ukrainian leadership continues to insist on the need for further funding from the United States and the European Union to support plans for future counteroffensives. However, the question of continuing assistance remains open and has not been resolved.
