Italy has blocked travel by Russian citizens to seven EU countries within the Schengen Area.

Russian citizens who received Schengen visas in Italy are facing new barriers to travel within Europe. Entry documents have been marked with restrictions prohibiting entry to seven countries, including transit. This was reported by tourists who applied to visa centers.

According to travelers, passports with multi-year visas are blocked from entering the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Iceland, Latvia, and Lithuania.

"We received a visa to Italy, but in our passports we saw a note about the closure of these countries, even for transit," — one of the tourists noted in a conversation with reporters.

Similar cases have been confirmed by other vacationers: visa inspectors are now checking visas on trains, and airport systems are blocking check-in for flights to restricted destinations.

The list of restrictions varies depending on the case. For some applicants, the ban does not apply to the Baltic countries, which causes confusion at visa centers.

"This is the first time we've encountered such restrictions," — explained representatives of one of the centers in Moscow.

These measures are part of the EU's broader policy of tightening visa requirements for Russians, introduced amid geopolitical tensions. Official clarifications from the Italian authorities have not yet been published.
