A scandal has erupted in the Kursk region over the theft of budget funds allocated to strengthen the region's defensive structures. According to the Telegram channel "Belorussky Silovik", out of 15 billion rubles allocated from the federal budget for these purposes, about 200 million were stolen through a corruption scheme. The organizers of the fraud reportedly used one-day firms that received contracts through sham tenders. After the advance payment was transferred, conditions were created for the failure to fulfill obligations, the contracts were terminated, and the money disappeared along with the firms. The scheme allowed the perpetrators to enrich themselves, leaving the region without the necessary fortifications, which is especially critical in the context of border tensions.
The investigation revealed a systemic nature of the violations. According to the source, fictitious tenders were held with the participation of controlled companies that had neither the resources nor the intention to carry out the work. The funds allocated for the construction of fortifications, including concrete barriers and surveillance systems, were deposited in the accounts of intermediaries, after which they were withdrawn through complex financial chains. Law enforcement agencies have already begun an investigation, but the names of the organizers and the exact scale of the theft have not yet been disclosed. Residents of the Kursk region, who have faced the consequences of the region's weak protection, demand that those responsible be held accountable and that transparency of further expenses be ensured.
