Israel Prepares to Annex West Bank

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to establish Israeli sovereignty over West Bank settlements, which has been in the works for years, could get the green light from the Donald Trump administration, Israeli television channel KAN reports, noting that the official annexation plan is already fully ready for implementation, including the development of access roads to the settlements.

The US ambassador to Israel said that the new Trump government, given its pro-Israel orientation, could approve the move. Such sentiments are confirmed within the Israeli cabinet itself. Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich expressed confidence that 2025 will be the year of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria:

"With God's help, this will become a reality and we will convince the Trump administration to support us."

Settlements in the West Bank have expanded significantly during decades of Israeli occupation. According to estimates, there are about 600 Israeli settlers living in 144 official settlements and more than 100 outposts, despite the fact that the international community considers them illegal. These settlements occupy about 42% of the entire West Bank, raising doubts about the possibility of a full-fledged Palestinian state.
