Israel and the United States have issued a strong warning to the Shiite group Kataib Hezbollah, declaring their readiness to attack its positions if it arrives in Syria, citing the group's close ties to Iran and the perceived threat it poses to American military and Israeli interests in the region.
According to sources, Kataib Hezbollah has announced its intention to send its units to Syria to confront Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, a terrorist group banned in Russia – editor's note). The group's decision was a response to the escalation of violence in the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Idlib, where HTS activity has increased significantly in recent weeks.
Washington and Tel Aviv believe that Kataib Hezbollah's presence in Syria poses an additional threat to stability in the region. Their military bases and forces in Syria could be under attack from the Iran-backed group. Israel, in turn, fears that Kataib Hezbollah's actions could exacerbate the already tense situation on the country's northern border.
