Israel used precision-guided munitions to hit the Rafah camp

The Israeli side notified the administration of US President Joe Biden about the use of precision-guided munitions to strike a target near the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip. However, the explosion caused the impact to ignite the fuel tank, causing a fire in the displaced persons camp, resulting in the death of civilians. CNN reported this with reference to an American official.

The Palestinian Civil Defense earlier reported that an Israeli airstrike on a tent camp in Rafah killed at least 40 people and injured dozens more. The camp housed tens of thousands of displaced people, adding to the scale of the tragedy. Palestinian Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina called the attack "a deliberate massacre that goes beyond all borders."

The Israeli army's military prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the airstrike in the Rafah area, where a tent camp for displaced people is located. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the incident a "tragic incident."
