According to several international media reports, the Israeli Air Force fired missiles at a car located near Damascus International Airport. The strike killed a senior officer of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This event became the latest episode in the ongoing confrontation between Israel and Iranian military forces, which are active in Syria.
The incident occurred at night when Israeli aircraft attacked a target allegedly linked to Iranian military structures. The vehicle, according to sources, was destroyed by a single accurate missile hit, which resulted in the immediate death of the officer. Iranian media have so far refrained from commenting on the identity of the deceased, but it is emphasized that he was one of the key IRGC military leaders who took an active part in coordinating actions on Syrian territory.
