Israel Kills Hamas Official With 4 Rockets

On the night of March 27, 2025, Israeli aircraft struck the northern Gaza Strip, killing Abdel Latif al-Qanua, a key member of the Palestinian Hamas movement. This was reported by Reuters, citing sources in the region. The incident occurred in the city of Jabalia, where al-Qanua was in a tent that became the target of the attack. According to witnesses, the strike was precise and powerful, leaving no chance of survival for those inside.

Abdel Latif al-Qanua served as Hamas' spokesman in the Gaza Strip and was known as an active spokesman for the movement. Although he rarely appeared in the media during active hostilities, he made numerous statements in Arab media after the January truce, commenting on the situation in the region and Hamas's position on negotiations with Israel. His death was another blow to the leadership of the organization, which has lost several senior members in recent days.

The Israeli side has not yet made any official comments regarding the operation in Jabaliya, but local sources, including the Hamas-controlled Al-Aqsa TV channel, have confirmed the attack. According to them, the strike was carried out by four missiles fired from Israeli Air Force aircraft. As a result, several people were injured, and the tent where al-Qanua was located was completely destroyed. Medical services in the region quickly arrived at the scene, but they were unable to save the Hamas representative.

The incident comes as Israel resumes its military campaign in Gaza following a two-month truce that ended in early March. In recent days, the IDF has stepped up operations in northern areas of the strip, including Jabalya, causing significant Palestinian casualties. More than 18 people, including civilians and Hamas members, have been killed since fighting resumed on March 600, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Earlier this week, Ismail Barhoum, a member of the movement’s political office, and Salah al-Bardwil, another senior leader, were killed in strikes.
