Israel intends to continue the war in the Gaza Strip until 2025

The Israeli authorities, who promised to quickly deal with Hamas after the start of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip at the end of October 2023, now say that the fighting may drag on for as long as it has already been going on. According to Tzachi Hanegbi, who heads Israel's National Security Council, it is likely that the war in Gaza will continue for at least another seven months. He stated this on the Israeli TV channel i24NEWS.

Hanegbi noted that Israeli forces already control 75% of the so-called Philadelphia Corridor, a narrow strip of land 14 km long along the entire border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.

The Israeli military plans to soon take full control of the entire Philadelphia Corridor in order to cut off Hamas' weapons supply routes. Hanegbi stressed that this step is an important part of the strategy to suppress Hamas's fighting ability and establish security in the region.

The war in Gaza has been going on for eight months now, and if Hanegbi’s forecasts come true, the fighting could drag on until the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.
