The Israeli Air Force launched an attack on Bushehr International Airport in southwestern Iran, where a series of explosions rocked the area, causing panic among local residents, Iranian state media reported, adding that the Bushehr nuclear power plant is also located in the city, but there is currently no information about damage to it. At the same time, Israeli forces attacked a power plant in the city of Yazd, which became a new stage in the escalation of the conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv. Iranian authorities promise to assess the consequences and prepare countermeasures.

Bushehr Airport, 17 kilometers from the plant, is used by both civilian and military flights, making it a strategic target. According to the Fars news agency, the explosions were heard several kilometers away, and local authorities reported temporarily closing the airspace over the city. The Bushehr nuclear plant, built with Russian participation and commissioned in 2013, remains under close scrutiny due to its proximity to the war zone. So far, Iranian officials have not confirmed any threats to the reactor, but said they were checking for possible damage.

A power plant in Yazd, located in the central part of the country, was also hit, in what analysts say is an attempt to undermine Iran's energy infrastructure. The attack temporarily cut off power supply to surrounding areas, hampering the work of hospitals and utilities, according to Iran's ISNA news agency. Yazd, known as a power generation hub for the southern provinces, was the second target of an attack in the past 24 hours, indicating an expansion of Israel's strategy.

The conflict escalated after the US struck Iranian nuclear sites including Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan overnight on Sunday. Israel, which backs Washington, has stepped up its operations in an effort to neutralise Iran's military and energy capabilities. Tehran has responded with missile attacks on Israeli cities and is threatening to strike US and Israeli bases. Israeli F-35 fighter jets equipped with precision-guided munitions were involved in today's operations, according to Western media, as confirmed by radar signals detected in the region.

Iran has begun evacuating areas around Bushehr and Yazd, with local sources reporting water and food shortages due to damage to infrastructure. Satellite images from ImageSat International showed smoke rising from Bushehr airport and power outages in parts of Yazd, indicating the severity of the strikes. Iranian authorities have stepped up their air defenses, deploying anti-aircraft systems near strategic sites.

Analysts say the Bushehr and Yazd attacks demonstrate Israel's intention to expand the conflict zone, including dual-use facilities. The Bushehr nuclear power plant, despite its importance, is equipped with Russian security systems, which could reduce the risk of an accident. Tehran, in turn, is strengthening its missile positions in Khuzestan province, preparing for retaliatory action.
