On June 15, 2025, the Israel Air Force (IDF) carried out a series of precision strikes against strategic targets in Tehran, including the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), the Intelligence Ministry, police headquarters, and the Iranian Air Force command center. According to Israeli sources, the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the Bahar-e Tehran neighborhood was also attacked. The day-long operation was the culmination of Israel's Am Qalavi campaign, launched on June 13 in response to Iranian missile attacks on Israeli cities. The strikes exposed the serious vulnerabilities of Iran's air defense systems and air force, which were unable to effectively counter Israeli fighter jets and drones.
According to Reuters, Israeli F-35s and F-15s, supported by drones, attacked more than 50 targets in and around Tehran, including ballistic missile depots and IRGC command centers. Iran confirmed damage in the Majlis area, where the administrative wing was hit, as well as partial destruction of the Intelligence Ministry infrastructure. Tasnim News Agency reported 18 dead, including two senior police officers, and more than 60 wounded. Videos published by the X platform showed smoke over central Tehran and destroyed buildings near the air force headquarters, causing panic among locals.
The Israeli military said the strikes were aimed at “destroying the infrastructure that supports Iran’s nuclear program and missile arsenal.” According to The Jerusalem Post, the attack on the IRGC headquarters killed three senior commanders responsible for coordinating attacks on Israel. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz called the operation “historic,” stressing that “Iran will no longer be able to threaten the region with impunity.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu added that the IDF is prepared for any scenario, including possible retaliatory strikes.
