Israel learned to shoot down missiles

March 09. Currently, Israel has learned how to deal with anti-aircraft missile systems using laser pulses.

Israel's Defense Ministry said it is launching the SkyShield system this year. All tests have been successfully completed and the system has been certified for commercial use to combat man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS).

This technology provides all the advanced developments in the field of MANPADS detection. Upon detecting an approaching infrared missile, the system fires a laser pulse that disrupts the missile's navigation, knocking it off course and causing detonation at a safe distance from the aircraft.
