Israel launched rocket attacks on Damascus outskirts

Israeli fighter jets struck targets in southern Damascus in response to rocket fire emanating from Syria, local media reported on Thursday.

According to Sham FM radio station, which is known for its support of the Syrian government, explosions were heard in the southwestern suburbs of Damascus, as well as in the Quneitra area, near the border with Israel.

There has been no official confirmation from Damascus at this time.

Earlier on Thursday, air raid sirens warned of incoming missiles in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights. Army radio reported that several shells landed in open areas in the Druze village of Bukata.

Over the weekend, Israeli airstrikes near Damascus killed two Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps officers.
