The Israeli Air Force carried out a series of strikes on ammunition depots and headquarters of the Radwan Force and Hezbollah Unit 4400 in the Al-Qusayr region of Syria, located near the border with Lebanon, the IDF Spokesperson's Office reported on October 31. The strikes are aimed at destroying the logistics infrastructure used by Hezbollah to transport Iranian weapons through Syria to Lebanon.
According to the Israeli army, attacks on Syrian targets in recent months have become part of the IDF's strategy to curtail arms smuggling channels aimed at bolstering Hezbollah's military capabilities in Lebanon. The strikes have been concentrated primarily in border areas, including key transportation hubs.
Unit 4400, which is responsible for moving weapons to Hezbollah, has recently expanded its operations in these border areas, making its facilities a priority target for Israeli strikes. The Israeli military spokesman, who rarely comment publicly on operations in Syria, stressed that the attacks are aimed at disrupting Hezbollah’s ability to build up its weapons through Iranian supplies transiting Syria.
