On June 15, 2025, the Israeli Air Force attacked the Iranian Navy headquarters in the Nobonyad district of Tehran, Iranian news service Tasnim reported, quoted by the Telegram channel Clash Report. Thick plumes of smoke rose over the area, which is home to key military installations including the Defense Ministry and the Defense Research Organization (Sapand), as confirmed by videos distributed on the X platform. The attack was part of an escalation of Israel's Operation Am Qalavi, launched on June 13 in response to Iranian missile strikes on Israeli cities. According to Iranian authorities, the strikes on Tehran killed at least 10 people, including three naval officers, and wounded more than 40.
According to Al Jazeera, Israeli F-35 fighter jets used precision-guided missiles to target facilities associated with the production and storage of Iranian ballistic missiles. The strike on the naval headquarters, located in a strategic area of the capital, was aimed at weakening Iran's maritime capabilities, including its capabilities in the Persian Gulf.
Iran responded to the attack with more drone and missile launches targeting southern Israel, including Beersheba, where air defense systems recorded 12 interceptions. The IDF said there were no casualties in Israel in the wave of attacks, but several industrial facilities were damaged.
