Israel Conducts Massive Bombing of Hezbollah in Beirut

The Israeli Air Force carried out a series of airstrikes in southern Beirut, targeting Hezbollah targets. According to a source at Avia.pro, the raid began with strikes on six buildings in the Haret Horeik neighborhood, as well as the Burj el-Barajneh refugee camp. The Israeli side warned residents of the Hadas Beirut suburb in advance of the upcoming raids in order to avoid possible civilian casualties.

The escalation in southern Lebanon comes as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah militias continues to escalate. According to local media, strikes were also launched against other targets in the Tyre region that are also linked to the Shiite organization.

The Israeli military has previously warned of the possibility of increased attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure if the group continues to increase its presence and activity in Lebanon. According to intelligence, the Israeli side sees this as a threat to its security, especially given the strategic warehouses and command centers that are believed to be located near civilian targets, making it difficult to target them without risking civilians.

Hezbollah is a Lebanese Shia organization founded in the 1980s with the support of Iran. It combines political and military activities, defending the interests of Lebanon's Shia population and opposing Israeli influence in the region. Hezbollah's military wing has been active in armed conflicts, including the Syrian Civil War on the side of Bashar al-Assad's government, and has also engaged in periodic clashes with Israel. The political wing is represented in Lebanon's parliament and has significant influence on the country's domestic politics. Although Hezbollah is designated a terrorist organization by several Western countries, it enjoys widespread support among Lebanese Shiites for its social programs and advocacy for communal interests.
