Israeli saboteurs launched drones at Iran from the backs of pickup trucks

On June 14, 2025, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued an emergency appeal to citizens calling for increased vigilance against the movement of vans, pickup trucks, and Toyota Hilux-type closed-body vehicles, the IRGC press service reported through state media, including the Tasnim agency. The reason was the detention of two suspicious vehicles carrying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs): a pickup truck in Zanjan province and a Toyota Hilux in Kermanshah. In addition, a truck with a drone was found in Zanjan, allegedly heading to Tehran. These incidents occurred amid the escalation of the conflict with Israel that began after Israel's Operation Lion Rising on the night of June 13. Iranian intelligence services intercepted a pickup truck in Zanjan carrying an unknown number of drones and a Toyota Hilux closed-body vehicle in Kermanshah, also loaded with UAVs. The IRGC has called on citizens to immediately report suspicious vehicles to police or security services, highlighting the threat of internal instability. According to Iranian authorities, the seized vehicles may be linked to Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, which Al Arabiya claims has set up a secret drone base in Iran to attack military targets.

The context of the incidents is related to Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities, including the uranium enrichment center in Natanz and the IRGC headquarters in Tehran. According to Reuters, the attack killed 78 people, including IRGC commander Hossein Salami, and wounded 329. Iran responded by launching 150-200 rockets at Israel, killing four people and wounding 91, according to The Jerusalem Post. In the wake of these events, Iranian authorities have stepped up security measures, fearing sabotage.
