The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has carried out a massive attack on the Iranian city of Tabriz, located in the northwest of the country, striking military targets, including radar stations. Footage released by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shows significant destruction, with several radars providing air defense in the region destroyed and military equipment depots damaged. According to Reuters, the attack was part of an operation launched by Israel on June 13 to weaken Iran's military and nuclear capabilities.
The operation involved more than 30 fighter jets, which hit about 40 targets in Tabriz, including command centers and air defense infrastructure, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement. The loss of the radar stations has severely reduced Iran's ability to track air targets in the northwestern region, leaving it vulnerable to further attacks, according to Al Jazeera.
Analysts interviewed by The Guardian say the destruction of the Tabriz radar could be preparation for larger strikes on Iranian military targets. Middle East security expert Amir Avivi said weakening Iran's air defenses gives Israel a strategic advantage but risks provoking retaliatory strikes on key cities.
