An Israeli helicopter mistakenly shot a group of Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip

An incident occurred in Israel in which an Israeli helicopter apparently mistakenly attacked a building containing Israeli military personnel. According to Ynet, one Israeli soldier was killed in the incident.

According to the site, ground troops requested air support after a group of Hamas militants were detected nearby. However, an Apache helicopter called to attack the militants mistakenly attacked the wrong structure due to "incorrect ground fire coordination" by the soldiers, Ynet alleged.

In response to the report of the incident, the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) said that the incident was under investigation. The dead soldier was already included among the 91 Israeli soldiers killed.

Ynet notes that there have been similar cases, but without deaths. However, during the ground operation in the Gaza Strip, dozens of people were killed or wounded as a result of so-called “friendly fire.”
