American submarine search system washed up on the coast of Iceland

An American submarine search system washed up on the coast of Iceland.

The American automatic SOSUS system was found on the coast of Iceland. One of the devices of the American sonar system washed ashore, however, which is quite remarkable, such a system has not been officially used by the United States for a long time, but, apparently, it was actively used quite recently, probably to search for Russian submarines in this region of the planet.

In the presented photos you can see one of the devices of the American sonar system SOSUS. The system is fully automated and allows you to track the appearance of submarines in the region and promptly transmit information about this to duty facilities. Despite the rust on the surface of the discovered device, it functioned relatively recently, which raised a number of questions as to why the US military continues to use such a system.

Experts do not exclude that with the help of this system, the US military could try to find Russian submarines in the waters of the Norwegian Sea, however, there are no official statements about this.
