Kazakhstan officially refused to extradite Russian dodgers

Russian evaders will not be extradited by the authorities of Kazakhstan.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan officially announced that the authorities of Kazakhstan will not extradite Russian draft dodgers who are trying to hide on the territory of the country from the partial mobilization of citizens liable for military service announced in Russia. According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, the basis for the extradition of citizens is only the announcement of the latter on the international wanted list, while requests from military commissariats will not be considered.

“If this is a criminal offense, today every day, both from Russia and from our side, extradition is carried out under the Minsk Convention and within the framework of legal assistance, ratified by our Parliaments. If the military registration and enlistment offices are looking for, this is not a legal basis for their extradition. ”- said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Akhmetzhanov.

The Russian side has not yet officially commented on Kazakhstan's position on providing Russian citizens with the opportunity to hide from the announced partial mobilization, however, this could significantly complicate relations between Moscow and Astana.

According to the official data of the authorities of Kazakhstan, since September 21, 98 citizens of the Russian Federation have entered the country.
