The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced the suspension of peace talks with Russia until the end of 2025, citing a "complete lack of progress." "The talks have been suspended until the end of the year due to the lack of progress," ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi stated on November 12.
The Kremlin responded calmly, confirming its readiness for dialogue.
"Moscow, unlike Kyiv, remains prepared to continue the negotiation process on Ukraine," — emphasized the president’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov.
He noted that Europe is actively encouraging Kyiv to continue military operations, while the United States prefers to "hold a pause."
Commenting on the situation, Peskov recalled the words of Vladimir Putin:
"Everything changes except one thing: the bravery, courage and heroism of the Russian soldier."
Kyiv's decision followed Russia's transfer of an informal memorandum to the US with the same terms, including control over all of Donbas. Zelenskyy had previously rejected Russian demands as "capitulation." The last direct contacts between the two sides took place in Istanbul in the spring of 2022. Since then, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE have acted as mediators, but without a breakthrough.
