The Ukrainian capital was plunged into a blackout following massive attacks on energy infrastructure, resulting in complete power outages in most areas. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to prepare for a harsh winter and possible extended power outages.
In his address, Klitschko emphasized:
"Prepare warm clothes, a supply of water and food."
He did not rule out a scenario in which the outages could last for weeks, affecting not only Kyiv but other regions of the country as well.
"We do not rule out prolonged power outages in Kyiv and other regions."“The mayor noted, citing damage to key energy system facilities.
Emergency power schedules are already in effect in nine regions, including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Sumy. There is no forecast for power restoration in the capital yet.
