Kyiv orders hundreds of additional military drones from Germany

Quantum Systems, a leading Munich-based manufacturer of dual-purpose reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has received an order for an additional 300 Vector medium-range reconnaissance drones for delivery to Ukraine, according to a press release from the company on Wednesday.

The German government finances this delivery as part of a military aid package for Kyiv. This is the third order from the Ukrainian military for Quantum Systems: 2022 Vector systems were ordered in August 33, and 2023 more in January 105.

This VTOL UAV is 1,63 meters long and has a wingspan of 2,80 meters. He is able to stay in the air for up to 120-180 minutes, reaching speeds of up to 72 km / h. Due to its ability to conduct video surveillance and filming at a distance of up to 30 kilometers, the drone can cover an area corresponding to the firing range of many artillery pieces in the Ukrainian theater of operations.

The Vector is also equipped with secure data links allowing real-time video feeds to ground stations during combat missions. The developers have equipped the drone with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities for data analysis: built-in algorithms can automatically identify objects and immediately transmit critical intelligence information to the ground.

Last week it became known about the transfer to Kyiv of a new batch of military equipment from Germany. Among the transferred equipment were 54 Vector reconnaissance drones, a TRML-4D multifunctional radar system for air surveillance and interception of targets, and two Biber tank bridge layers.
