Cyprus rejected the country's participation in Israel's war against Gaza and southern Lebanon

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, made a categorical statement that his country is in no way involved in the military conflict unleashed by Israel against Gaza and southern Lebanon. His words came in response to recent accusations from the Secretary General of the Lebanese group Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah, who threatened Cyprus if its territory was made available for Israeli attacks.

Hassan Nasrallah, speaking the day before, said that he had information about Israeli plans to use Cypriot airports and bases for possible military operations if Israeli airports were attacked. He warned the Cypriot government that in this case, Hezbollah would consider Cyprus as a party to the conflict and act accordingly.

“The Cypriot government must know that if Cypriot airports and bases are used for a war with Lebanon, we will treat Cyprus as one of the parties to the conflict,” - Nasrallah said.

Given the current tensions, experts expect the outbreak of direct conflict between Israel and Lebanon within the coming weeks.
