Cyprus, under US pressure, wants to transfer T-80U, BMP-3 tanks and Mi-35P helicopters to Ukraine

Cyprus and the United States are negotiating the transfer of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and combat helicopters to Ukraine.

Following the shipment of Czech infantry fighting vehicles and T-72 tanks to Ukraine, it became known that Cyprus could become the next sender of weapons for Ukraine. At the moment, it is known that the Cypriot authorities are negotiating with Washington regarding the transfer of T-80U tanks, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles and Mi-35P attack helicopters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is known that the United States turned to the government of Cyprus to provide Ukraine with a gift of Tor-M1 and S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as T-80U main battle tanks, BMP-3 tracked armored infantry fighting vehicles and Mi-35 attack helicopters. The source notes that the request was positively received by Nikos Anastasiades and the President of Cyprus gave the go-ahead for further discussions to proceed quickly.

As it turned out, Cyprus opposes the transfer of air defense assets to Ukraine, but is ready to discuss with the United States the sending of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and even helicopters to Ukraine. However, at the moment, the conditions proposed by the American side remain unknown - according to experts, we can talk about the supply of modern American weapons to Cyprus in an amount equal to the cost of weapons transferred to Ukraine.

According to Army Recognition, Cyprus currently has 82 Soviet-made T-80U tanks, 43 BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles and 11 Mi-35P attack helicopters.
