Chinese warship nearly destroyed US destroyer off Taiwan Strait

A People's Republic of China Navy ship approached an American destroyer at a distance of less than 150 meters. According to the Canadian broadcaster Global News, the actions of Chinese sailors almost led to a serious clash between the military courts of the two countries.

According to the source, the incident occurred during a joint US-Canadian mission in the Taiwan Strait area. In response to the close meeting, the Indo-Pacific Command of the US Armed Forces officially stated that such behavior of the Chinese ship violates established international rules for safe navigation at sea.

The Chinese Embassy in Canada, responding to requests for comment from Global News, stressed that the American and Canadian ships initially informed about their presence in the specified area. The embassy spokesman added that the Chinese naval and air forces, following the law, controlled the movement of both ships.

In parallel, the US Indo-Pacific Command previously reported an "aggressive maneuver by a Chinese J-16 fighter" against a US RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft over the South China Sea. According to the command, on May 26, an American aircraft conducted "regular safe operations" in this area.
