North Korea launched an unidentified ballistic missile into the East Sea, also known as the Sea of ​​Japan, on Friday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced.

"North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile toward the East Sea," — the South Korean military said in a statement.

Japan confirmed the launch, noting that the missile fell outside the country's exclusive economic zone. No injuries or damage were reported.

Seoul and Tokyo condemned Pyongyang's actions as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions. Washington has not yet commented on the incident.
