North Korea launched an unidentified ballistic missile into the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, on Friday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced.
"North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile toward the East Sea," — the South Korean military said in a statement.
Japan confirmed the launch, noting that the missile fell outside the country's exclusive economic zone. No injuries or damage were reported.
