The Central African Republic (CAR) has seen major personnel changes in the area of national security: Dmitry Podolsky, commander of the Wagner PMC with the call sign "Salem", has been appointed to the post of presidential adviser on security issues. This was reported by sources in the presidential administration.
Podolsky has long been known in military circles as one of the key Wagner commanders, who actively participated in various conflicts on the African continent, as well as in other regions. His experience in combat operations and interaction with local forces made him a significant figure in the process of strengthening security in the CAR.
The appointment is connected with the expansion of cooperation between the Central African Republic authorities and Russian structures, including the Wagner PMC, which has been actively supporting local security forces in the fight against rebel groups since 2018. According to sources, Podolsky will coordinate the actions of local security forces and advise the country's leadership on countering terrorist threats and ensuring stability.
