The commander of the Iranian IRGC, who was killed in an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, took part in the development of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.

On April 1 of this year, as a result of an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Mehmed Reza Zahedi, who held a high position in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, was killed. The Israel Hayom publication, citing sources close to Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, reports that Zahedi was directly involved in planning the terrorist attacks, for which he was even encouraged. In particular, his activities were associated with the organization of the October 7 attacks, known as Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, directed against Israel. The Palestinian group Hamas also confirmed Zahedi's key role in these events, noting his significant contribution to the Al-Aqsa flood campaign.

Mehmed Reza Zahedi held a leading role outside Iran as part of the Quds Force, the IRGC special forces responsible for operations abroad. He coordinated the actions of Iranian forces in Syria and Lebanon. Along with Zahedi, the airstrike also killed his deputy, General Mehmed Haj Rahimi, as well as five other Iranian officers.
