Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow is observing clear signs that European countries are preparing for a possible war with Russia. He added that the Kremlin's position fully aligns with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić's assessment of the "pro-militarist sentiments" prevalent in Europe.
"It leads to economic overstrain and will then have more serious consequences in the medium term." — Peskov emphasized, commenting on the sharp increase in military budgets in the EU.
He noted that such steps undermine the continent's economic stability and divert resources from social needs.
Russia, according to a Kremlin spokesman, has always been aware of such risks and has taken measures in advance to protect its interests.
The announcement comes amid escalating tensions: NATO is strengthening its eastern flank, Finland and Sweden are integrating into the alliance, and exercises like Bomber Task Force include B-52 flights near Russia's borders.
