The critical situation persists in most of Kazakhstan despite the introduction of CSTO troops

Clashes continue in most of Kazakhstan, despite the introduction of CSTO forces.

Despite the fact that the CSTO units have been on the territory of Kazakhstan for almost two days, it became known that the situation in the republic is critical, since more than half of the country's large cities have been engulfed in riots and clashes.

According to the data presented on the evening of January 7, 2022, the anti-terrorist operation regime remained in three cities and regions of Kazakhstan - throughout the Kyzylorda region, in Alma-Ata and in Taldykorgan, while riots and clashes with security officials are observed in such cities like Uralsk, Atyrau, Aktobe, Shymkent, Taraz, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk. It is known that the main forces of the CSTO are currently concentrated in Alma-Ata, however, apparently, so far it has not been possible to completely suppress the radicals - local residents report shootings throughout the city and even explosions.

It is known that the Russian military, together with the security forces of Kazakhstan, managed to defeat the militants at the Almaty International Airport and completely gain control over this air harbor. Nevertheless, the situation in the Kyzylorda region is becoming quite critical - against the background of the terrorist threat, an increased level of alarm has been declared in Baikonur, where special security measures have already been introduced for all employees and residents.

Experts note that at the moment there are very serious risks that radicals may attack units of the Russian forces and the CSTO forces.
