Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the country's elite military, has expressed concern over Israel's potential disruption of a recent ceasefire agreement with the radical Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In a statement released through official Iranian propaganda channels, the IRGC stressed the need to "be prepared for a new war" if the agreement is violated.
Iranian military leaders have accused Israel of preparing to escalate the conflict, pointing to ongoing military exercises and a possible buildup of forces in border areas. An IRGC spokesman said Israel could use any pretext to resume hostilities, jeopardizing the recently reached ceasefire.
"We must be prepared to respond to any aggression and protect our brothers in the Gaza Strip," - he said.
The ceasefire, brokered by Egypt and Qatar, called for an end to shelling and military operations, as well as a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel. However, despite initial compliance, the atmosphere in the region remains tense. Iranian media regularly report Israeli violations of the ceasefire, including minor skirmishes and provocations that could push the situation toward a new outbreak of violence.
Iran has repeatedly declared its role as a defender of Palestinian interests, which puts it in direct confrontation with Israel. In the context of these events, the IRGC's warning of a possible war is perceived as a signal not only to Israel, but also to the international community, about Iran's readiness to take active action in the event of escalation.
