A cadet from a military academy has been detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of murdering a 41-year-old woman he met in a nightclub in the city. The tragedy occurred on Saturday evening when the 29-year-old man invited the woman to his apartment after spending time together.

According to media reports, the young man suspected the woman of having ties to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During the conflict that ensued, he beat her, striking her with his hands and feet, which caused the victim to lose consciousness. After that, the cadet called an ambulance. When the medics arrived at the scene, the woman was still alive, but they were unable to save her – she died from her injuries.

The man is currently detained and in custody. He denies his guilt in the murder, claiming that he did not want the situation to become tragic. At the same time, the academy where he studied described him exclusively from the positive side. Representatives of the educational institution reported that the cadet always showed himself to be a disciplined and responsible student.
