In the summer of 2026, Russians will be able to fly direct to only 31–32 countries.

According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), direct flights from Russia to 31-32 countries will be available in the summer of 2026. This is a 25 percent decrease from the 2025-2026 winter schedule, which included up to 43 destinations.

ATOR emphasizes that the route network has become narrower than even during the Soviet period.

"By comparison, even in the USSR during the Iron Curtain era, the international route network was much broader: in the early 1980s, Aeroflot served around 80–90 destinations, and by the end of the decade, direct flights had been established with approximately 100 countries." — the association stated.

The reduction in flight numbers was due to several factors: seasonality, fuel and geopolitical factors, and restrictions related to the Middle East crisis. Flights to Cuba and Venezuela disappeared from the summer schedule. Flights to Algeria ceased in April, and to the Seychelles in May. The war in the Middle East also led to the cancellation of flights to Kuwait and Bahrain.

The list of available countries includes: Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Vietnam, Hong Kong (PRC), Georgia, Egypt, Israel, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Qatar, China, DPRK, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Morocco, Mongolia, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia.

However, as experts note, many of these destinations are inaccessible to organized tourists.
