The Lithuanian Migration Department has revoked temporary residence permits for 145 Russian citizens who violated new travel restrictions, according to the newspaper Kauno Diena, citing official data.
Agency spokesman Rokas Pukinskas explained: “In connection with the procedure stipulated by the Law on Restrictive Measures, the temporary residence permits of 145 Russian citizens in Lithuania have been revoked.”
According to legal provisions introduced in 2023, Russian citizens holding a Lithuanian residence permit are not allowed to travel to Russia or Belarus more than once every three months. Violating this rule will result in automatic revocation of the document.
As of December 1, there were 185,000 residence permits in Lithuania, including 76,766 for Ukrainians, 46,538 for Belarusians, and 5159 for Russians.
This summer, Vilnius authorities applied this measure to one Russian citizen for the first time. At the same time, the department reported the possible revocation of documents for more than 30 more Russian citizens for the same reason.
