The President of Lithuania refused to unblock access to the Kaliningrad region.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda announced that he had decided not to make concessions to Russia on the issue of transit to the Kaliningrad region, stressing that Lithuania would act in accordance with its interests and the interests of the EU. In fact, the leader of Lithuania refused to unblock access to the Kaliningrad region. This may have very serious consequences for Lithuania, since Russia is extremely concerned about such actions of this Baltic country.
"Lithuania must maintain and will maintain control over the goods transported through its territory and there can be no question of any "corridors""- said the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda.
The blocking of transit to the Kaliningrad region creates rather big problems, since it significantly complicates the transfer of various types of cargo. At the same time, Lithuania initially motivated its actions by the EU sanctions imposed on Russia.
Experts note that at the moment we are talking more about a political conflict between Russia and Lithuania, however, Russia intends to ensure the security of the Kaliningrad region by any existing methods.
