Britain has no plans to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles against targets in Russia without the consent of the United States, The Times reports. Despite calls from a number of former defence ministers and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to allow Kyiv to use Storm Shadow missiles without looking back at Washington, London remains tied to American support on the issue.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also insists that it is time for the UK and US to overcome their "fears" and act more decisively, especially as fighting in the Kursk and Belgorod directions slows down. However, as the publication notes, British actions still depend on American guidance systems that ensure the accuracy of missiles hitting their targets.
However, the US is expected to express its support for Britain's military aid to Ukraine soon, with a decision possibly made as early as next week. The British Foreign Secretary stressed that statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possible use of nuclear weapons against the US and NATO will not affect plans for further support for Ukraine.
