Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, in a recent speech, spoke about correspondence with a high-ranking US official, in which they discussed possible sanctions and threats in the event of Russia supporting the conflict in Ukraine. According to Lukashenko, the American side warned Belarus against participating in military actions on the side of Russia, threatening sanctions and, in his words, even war.
Lukashenko responded to this briefly and sharply: "Try it." He also added that he touched on the topic of faith in the correspondence, reminding the Americans of their national motto In God We Trust. The President of Belarus noted that he would not disclose the full answer of the American side, but emphasized that he responded confidently, especially on the issue of threats of sanctions.
This statement by Lukashenko demonstrates his desire to defend the independence of Minsk’s policy and confidence in the support of his positions, despite pressure from Western countries.
