Ukrainian soldiers from the 425th Assault Regiment "Skala" published an edited video in which the Russian flag, in the background of footage from Pokrovsk, is repainted as a Ukrainian flag. Russian war correspondents report this, noting the use of artificial intelligence to create a "virtual victory."
The original footage, filmed by Russian forces, shows the tricolor flag flying over the liberated city. In the Skala Regiment's version, the flag changes colors, and part of the image—the porch of a house—animates and transforms into a civilian car, which then disappears. These manipulations are generated by a neural network, resulting in the "animation" of objects and inconsistencies in lighting.
The "Skala" regiment, known for its social media activity, previously claimed to have "cleared" administrative buildings in Pokrovsk. However, actual events indicate Russian troops have control of the city, which became the pretext for this digital "victory."
