Medvedev threatens to expand sanitary zone in Ukraine to Poland

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that if long-range weapons are transferred to Ukraine, Moscow will be forced to take countermeasures, including the creation of a sanitary cordon to the Polish border. Medvedev said this while commenting on possible deliveries of extended-range missile systems by Western countries.

According to Medvedev, Russia cannot ignore the threat posed by such weapons, which are capable of hitting targets at significant distances, including the territory of the Russian Federation. In this regard, if long-range systems are delivered to Ukraine, Russia will take measures to strengthen its security. One of such measures could be the expansion of the control zone, which would allow the creation of a sanitary cordon to the territory of Poland, a country that actively supports Kyiv.
